SumUp is a payment service: they sell the card reader and process the card payments, and a POS app comes with it. The price is a processing fee, a share of every sale.
Cashm8 is a POS system. We do not process card payments; you choose the processor yourself — and SumUp is one of the supported options. Our price is a fixed monthly fee, not a share of your sales.
When you want to keep your card processor replaceable rather than welded to your till.
When your sales are high enough that a percentage-based processing fee exceeds a fixed monthly fee.
When you want Finnish-language support and a phone number that is answered. There is no phone number on SumUp’s site at all.
When you need a kitchen order display or advance ticket tracking.
When you want to buy a card reader online today without talking to anyone. SumUp’s web shop is frictionless, and there they are genuinely better than us.
When you sell very little and occasionally: a percentage-based price is then cheaper than a fixed monthly fee.

If you already own a SumUp card reader, you can add Cashm8 as your POS system alongside it. You do not lose the hardware and you do not have to change processor.
Yes. SumUp is one of the supported card terminal options.
It depends on your sales volume. SumUp’s price is a share of sales; ours is a fixed €9 / month per card terminal. The more you sell, the more favourable the fixed fee becomes in relative terms.
